- Canola Oil Gaining Food Network Fan Club: It's official: Bobby Flay loves canola oil. The restaurateur, Iron Chef and Food Network personality recommends cooking with canola oil and says he prefers it to extra virgin olive oil. With the least saturated fat of all cooking oils, tolerance for high cooking temperatures and a neutral flavor that goes with any dish, what's not to love?
- Healthy Fat Isn't Greek to Mediterranean Diet Enthusiasts: The Mediterranean diet comes highly recommended for its heart health benefits and canola oil is a new staple in this diet due to its high monounsaturated and low saturated fat content. It's a good choice for everyday cooking and ideal for sautéing fish, another Mediterranean diet staple, due to its high smoke point.
- For Omega-3 Fat, Consume Canola Oil: Canola oil is a great source of plant-based omega-3 fat, with the most per tablespoon of any cooking oil. While olive oil is sometimes associated with the heart-protecting fatty acid, it only contains 1 percent of omega-3 fat, whereas canola oil contains 11 percent.
